Welcome to our new video blog. We are kicking things off by dealing with the greatest challenge that businesses face on the path to growth and success: fear.

The Three Fears

When we have a new client sign up and we go through the extensive assessment process, what we are really looking for are source or core issues that are preventing a business from growing. Most of these issues are rooted in some type of fear. There are many kinds of fear, but there are three main fears that hold people back and prevent them from taking the key actions that would vault their business to a new level.
  1. Fear of Imperfection
    • With new strategies, people are often concerned with doing it right to the point of perfection. This can stop them in their tracks because nobody does everything perfectly the first time. That fear of imperfection can hold people in one spot and prevent them from moving forward.
  2. Fear of Going Backwards
    • Often people will learn a new skill or strategy, but the fear that it will leave their business worse off is so great that they procrastinate.
  3. Fear of Leaving Comfort Zone
    • This is the most prevalent fear business owners have about growing their business. They may not be satisfied with the performance of their business, but if it's within their comfort zone, they probably won't change anything. If you're scared of leaving your comfort zone, you won't want to take action to fix things.
So, how can you overcome these fears?

Recall Past Success: Start by looking at the successes you've had in the past and study them. Playing the mental loop of success in your head can give you confidence to try new strategies.

Visualize Worst-Case Scenarios: An interesting thing about fear is that it's much worse in your head than it is in reality. When you go through a list to see all the possible outcomes, you'll find that it's not such a big deal.

Map Out the Process: It's important to create a path and process going forward. You need to map out a real visual plan and be confident about each step.

If you've been looking to take your business to a new level, and need key insights, strategies and accountability to get there, business coaching may be the answer.
